Bedrock Village Caravan Park and Tours is located in the historic township of Mt. Surprise, 320 km southwest of Cairns on the Savannah Way.
Designed and built by Joe and Jo Lockyer and their children Amy and Toby on their 9 acres of bush land. Years of creation has transformed the area from a harsh basalt landscape into an oasis.
Joe Lockyer has been a member of Savannah Guides since 1992 and Bedrock Village was accredited as a Savannah Guide Site in April 2001.
Joe is a highly skilled bushman and has a wealth of knowledge of the local flora, fauna, geology and history. This strong background is put to outstanding use as he shares his passion and enthusiasm through his diverse range of guided tours which include the Undara Volcanic National Park and Savannahlander train.
Bedrock Village Caravan Park offers spacious, shady, drive through powered sites. Each site has native tree screening on either side to encompass a quiet and private bay. The lawned camping area, set among the trees, is equipped with its own camp kitchen which includes a toaster, kettle, and fridge and hot and cold water sink.
There are 34 cabins at Bedrock Village all of which are air conditioned, ensuited, have television and linen is supplied. 30 of these cabins have full cooking facilities and one is suited to disabled patrons.
The 11 metre salt water pool, 9 hole mini golf course and television room, ensure that the younger visitors to Bedrock Village have plenty to keep them occupied.
Free gas BBQs and 2 camp kitchens are offered for self-catering. Clothes lines and laundry facilities are available in the recreation area.
